Generic Lipitor – Lipvas

Generic Lipitor – Lipvas is taken for reducing cholesterol and certain other fatty substances in the blood. Cholesterol and fatty substances can  accumulate on the artery walls. This reduces or prevents Cardiovascular Diseases. In particular Generic Lipitor tablets reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, revascularization procedures, and angina. Drug therapy is recommended as an addition to diet when the response to a diet restricted in saturated fat and cholesterol and other nonpharmacologic measures alone has proved to be inadequate. Lipvas Tablets manufactured by Cipla are available in strengths of 10 mg , 20 mg and 40 mg.

What is Cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a waxy substance. It’s not inherently “bad.” Your body needs it to build cells and make vitamins and other hormones. But too much of it can pose a problem.

Cholesterol comes from two sources. Your liver makes all the cholesterol you need. The remainder of the cholesterol in your body comes from foods from animals. For example, meat, poultry and dairy products all contain dietary amounts.

Those same foods are high in saturated and trans fats. These fats cause your liver to make more cholesterol than it otherwise would. For some people, this added production means they go from a normal cholesterol level to one that’s unhealthy.

Some tropical oils – such as palm oil, palm kernel oil and coconut oil – contain saturated fat that can increase bad cholesterol. These oils are often found in baked goods.

Ingredient present in Lipvas Tablets

The active ingredient is Atorvastatin Calcium. Each film-coated tablet of Lipvas contains Atorvastatin Calcium equivalent to Atorvastatin 10 mg , 20 mg or 40 mg respectively.

How to Use Lipvas Tablets (Generic Lipitor)

Lipvas by Cipla (Generic Lipitor) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change your dose or stop usage without talking to your doctor. Your doctor may do blood tests to check your cholesterol levels during your treatment. Your dose of this medicine may be changed based on these blood test results.

Take Generic Lipitor each day at any time of day at about the same time each day. This medicine can be taken with or without food. Don’t break the tablet before taking it.

Your doctor should start you on a low-fat diet before giving you this medicine. Stay on low-fat diet when you take Lipitor.

 Precautions

Do not take this medicine if you:
• Are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant. This medicine may harm your unborn baby. If you get pregnant, stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away.
• Are breast feeding. This medicine can pass into your breast milk and may harm your baby.
• Have liver problems.
• Are allergic to atorvastatin

Side Effects

• Cold-like symptoms.
• Joint pain.
• Diarrhea.
• Urinary tract infection.
• Stomach pain.
• Nausea.
• Muscle pain and spasms.
• Difficulty falling and staying asleep.
